I have purchased an iTunes subscription in the app, but the latest issue has a price on it. What should I do?

Please try to restore your purchases by opening the app and tapping on the cog-wheel icon in the top right corner, then Restore Purchases at the bottom of the screen. You may be prompted to log in with your Apple ID - please make sure it is the same one you used to make your purchase.

I have purchased an issue but the app won't let me access it. What should I do?

Please try to unlock your purchases by opening the app and tapping on the cog-wheel icon in the top right corner to access Settings, then tap Restore Purchases. You may be prompted to log in with your Apple ID - please make sure it is the same one you used to make your purchase.

Content that I've purchased isn't available in the app. What should I do if Restore Purchases doesn't work?

First, please try restarting the app:

  1. Double-tap your iPhone's home button.
  2. Locate the app and flick it upwards. This will shut down the app.
  3. Tap the home button again.
  4. Make sure you have a strong, stable Wi-Fi connection and that you are logged into the Apple ID you used to make the original purchase.
  5. Launch the app again and try to Restore Purchases If this doesn't do the trick, you may have a faulty download of the app.

To refresh, do the following:

  1. Find the app on your home screen and long-press the app icon until it starts to shake.
  2. Tap the 'X' on the app icon to remove the app from your iPhone.
  3. Install the app anew from the App Store.
  4. Reopen the app and try unlocking your purchases.

If there is a free trial being offered in the app, how does that work?

If you'd like to check if a free trial is currently being offered, please open the app and tap the subscriptions button in the bottom right corner. If the publisher is currently offering a free trial, you will see a Free Trial Subscription button appear in the pop-up screen. Tap it and the app will inform you how long the free trial will last, as well as the price and length of the paid subscription that will begin at the end of the trial.

I have renewed my print subscription to the magazine with the publisher. I had also made some in-app purchase through the Apple iTunes Store. What happens to these in-app purchases now that I have a running print subscription? Can I get back those in-app purchases in the app and also get access to the print issues in the app?

If the publisher offers print subscription integration in the app, you will see a 'Subscriptions' button on the bottom right of the screen. Then, click the 'Log-in' button and fill out the information to unlock the issues associated with your print subscription. In addition to that you may also use “Unlock My Purchases” button under settings to unlock and previous in-app purchases (including auto renewing subscriptions) you may have purchased from the Apple iTunes Store.

Please note: you should unlock a print subscription issues prior to unlocking any in-app purchases.

The app appears to have frozen while trying to download/unlock my purchases. What should I do?

First, please double-check that the app is actually frozen. Sometimes issue content can be rather large, and take a considerable time to download over slower Internet connections. If you are positive that the app is frozen, please follow these steps to restart the app:

  1. Double-tap your iPhone's home button.
  2. Locate the app and flick it upwards. This will shut down the app.
  3. Tap the home button again.
  4. Make sure you have a strong, stable Wi-Fi connection and reopen the app, and attempt to unlock your purchases again.

How do I download content to my device so that I can read it later?

You can download any content. To add a piece of content to your Saved section, tap the star and it will fill in white, indicating that it has been saved to the device. You can save entire libraries of content or individual articles.

How do I delete past issues from the app?

To remove an issue, navigate to the Saved view where you can see all of your saved content. Tap the checkmark on the content, and it will be removed from your device.

How do I share an image or article?

As a subscriber, you'll have access to sharing content. Tap the scissors icon at the bottom of the screen. Then, using a simple two-finger tap, actual images of the content itself are “clipped” and can be sent directly to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or Pinterest, or via email or saved to your photo roll.

Where is the table of contents?

We have replaced the table of contents with a simpler navigation menu. Once you tap into a magazine, all of the articles are just one click away. Scroll down through the issue and tap on an article.

How do I navigate through the issue?

Once you tap into a magazine, you can scroll through all of its articles. To read an article just tap on it to open it up. From the article level, you can swipe left or right to move forward or backward through the magazine. Or, you can tap the top left back arrow to return to the article selector.

The latest issue of the publication isn't showing up in my app. Where is it?

First, please be sure that your iPhone/iPad has a strong and stable internet connection so that it can receive the latest content. If the issues still aren't showing up, then it's likely that the publishers have not made the content available for download yet. Please check back in the app in a day or two, as it will likely be made available by then.

How can I navigate forwards and backwards while browsing web content within the reader?

We've added the following gestures within the web browser in the reader:

  1. Two-finger swipe down to close
  2. Two-finger swipe up to go full page
  3. Two-finger swipe left to go back
  4. Two-finger swipe right to go forward

I have an iTunes billing problem. Can I send you my iTunes account information to get it resolved?

No, Apple does not share any billing or customer information with us, and all charges to your account are managed solely by Apple. We don't have the ability to look at your purchase history or credit your account. We would recommend reaching out to Apple for assistance. iTunes customer service can be reached by phone by calling: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-69-27753).

I have a Hearst subscription billing problem. Can I send you my account information to get it resolved?

How do I cancel the auto-renewal of an iTunes subscription?

  1. From your iPhone's home screen, tap App Store.
  2. Tap Featured at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and tap the Apple ID button at the bottom of the screen. (If you are not signed in, tap the Sign In button, and log in with the Apple ID you used to purchase the subscription. Then return to the Apple ID button.)
  4. Tap the View Apple ID button.
  5. Enter your password and tap OK.
  6. From the main account page, scroll down and tap Manage App Subscriptions. If you don't have any app subscriptions this button will not be displayed.
  7. From your Manage App Subscription page, choose an app subscription.
  8. Tap the subscription category for which you want to disable auto-renewal.
  9. Next to Automatic Renewal, tap the green toggle switch
  10. You'll receive a confirmation message; tap Turn Off to confirm your choice.

I am a current print subscriber and would like to get access to this magazine on my iPad and/or iPhone.

To check if the iPad/iPhone edition is included as part of your current print subscription, follow these steps:

  1. Within the app, you will see a 'Subscribe' button on the bottom right of the screen. Click the 'Subscriptions' icon.
  2. Click the 'Log In As An Existing User' button.
  3. Fill out the information to verify whether the iPad/iPhone edition is included as part of your print subscription. If successfully, you will have unlocked the issues associated with your print subscription.
